Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus

Join us this Sunday

We are a gospel centred Anglican church in Townsville, and we’d love you to join us this Sunday! We meet at 9:30am and 5pm in the Lecture Theatre at The Cathedral School so the easiest way to find us is via Thompson Street car park, then follow the signs!

9:30am Church

  • All ages and Stages
  • Creche and Kids Church (up to Grade 6)
  • Followed by fellowship over morning tea.

Church at 9:30am is aimed at all ages and stages of life. We desire to express the amazing reality that we gather together as people who worship the living God and depend on his Word. Our gathering is contemporary, relaxed and dignified. We finish each week having morning tea together under the shade of our beautiful rain tree.

9:30am has a full Kids Church program for Creche (sitting age to Prep) and Primary School aged children. Our high school students join us for the main service and Sermon.

5pm Church

  • Relaxed and simplified
  • Time to go and share dinner together afterwards
  • Question time
  • Kids stay in Church

The 5pm evening service is simplified while maintaining a focus on honouring God during our time together. This gathering is newer and still finding its feet, but its members are just as convinced of our need to gather around the Word of Christ week by week. We started in May 2023 and the average age is younger, with more young adults and high-schoolers . People often gather for dinner after church.

We’re Glad You’re Here!

Welcome! Here at RRAC, we are a community focused on following Jesus and growing as his disciples. We believe Jesus is what the world (including us) needs more than anything else! In Jesus, we have found joy, peace and hope, so we want to share the good news with everyone, starting with Townsville.

What are we about?

The Bible is God’s generous way of introducing himself to us, his created, beloved children. The Bible teaches how God wants us to live and especially how we can have friendship with him through the Gospel of Jesus.

In the Bible, we find God’s grace, his undeserved gift of forgiveness. It is a long story that unfolds throughout its pages. It culminates with the gospel, as Jesus comes into the world to suffer and die for the sake of humanity, even though we hated him. Next, Jesus is raised from the dead to be the ruler of the world. Jesus tells us he will return to judge the world; by bringing justice and punishing evil, and giving eternal life to all who trust his promise and have been forgiven.

Jesus teaches us that we need forgiveness and friendship with God more than anything else, and he offers this as a gift to all who will trust him and follow his teaching.

Therefore, as Jesus’ disciples, we listen to what he says; we try to love others, pursue their good and be kind and forgiving. So, we aspire to live together as a Christian family and serve the community around us.

In view of this great story, we strive to be gospel-centred and biblically faithful in all of life. Knowing Jesus brings us great joy, purpose and hope, even through the ups and downs of life. And we want to share this great news with everyone, so we’d love you to come along and get to know Jesus too!!

What’s next?

We’d love to meet you!

We don’t come to church as the best or brightest, smartest or wisest;
we come not as the righteous, but as sinners who have been forgiven by Jesus.
Jesus frees us from guilt and shame, he gives us joy and eternal life!”
